Our last couple of days in IOS

Image
Our last couple of days spent enjoying the beautiful beach Mylopotas with its crystal clear waters and beautiful white sand which we didn’t see a lot of on the other islands. We took a scooter ride to see Homer’s tomb which was a long journey up and down mountains on our 50cc scooter to see his tomb which was a bit of a let down but enjoyed he ride. We had dinner at the port which was ok althoigh my seafood pasta only contained muscles but still tasty and then in to town for the sunset and I climbed to the top of the hill where there were 3 churches at 3 different levels but got some beautiful pics and was well worth the walk. We have loved it here and our hotel has been really great and we are off back to Athens on our 6 hour ferry ride and then an hour and a half bus ride to the airport from  Piraeus to the airport and then 4 hours on a plane to London then an hour trip on the tube to our hotel - massive day of travelling!!! Trains, planes and buses!!! ...

Day 1 on IOS

Enjoying our time on IOS - went for a big scooter ride around the island our poor little 50cc struggles up these big hills but gets us where we need to go. We were going to go to Managan Beach but it was taking us forever so decided to just head back to Mylopotas beach where we spent our day at swimming and baking and then had a great meal at Harmony restaurant with some live music 🎵

Santorini to Ios

Well it was goodbye beautiful Satorini and Keti Hotel room number 6 (the cave room) and Tim had to carry one of our heavy suitcases up 89 stairs - lucky the hotel porter carried mine up those stairs!!! Then onto the Champion Jet 2 for our short trip to Ios only 35 minutes which was nice and we were picked up by our hotel Levantes Ios and what an amazing hotel it is. Gorgeous pool area and amazing views of Myopotas beach where the famous Far Out Cafe is although it has moved and been upgraded since I was here last time30 years ago!! We grabbed ourselves a scooter 50cc and did some cruising around getting our bearings - from the beach to the port and stopping at the town for some shopping although the shops are few and far between but if you want a bar they are every second place.

Exploring Santorini

Image
Our first day on Santorini we decided to hire a quad to do some exploring of the island so after a nice brekki we climbed the 90 steps up from our hotel to get our quad and then off we went. Our first stop was the red beach which was pretty impressive but we didn’t go down there as our lady at reception had said ther had been some rockfalls. We then went to Perissa the black beach and grabbed a couple of lullabies for a bit more sun - like we need it!! The said was like tiny pebbles but quite nice to walk on. Spent a couple of hours there and then thought we would go to the other end of Santorini and visit Oia. That was quite a long journey especially due to us taking a diversion via the wrong road but we finally got there. Stunning views and had some lunch there. Then we headed back to sit around the pool. I went out shopping while Tim chilled out.

Mykonos day 2 and then off to Santorini

So we decided to keep the scooter for another day me went to a couple of different bays and checked out Super Paradise but we didn’t like it as much as Paradise Tropicano so we headed back there for the day and loved it. That night we went Nikos Taverno for dinner which was really yummy. Our last day in Mykonos we chilled out around the pool which was nice and met some lovely ladies from Oz. We then caught the ferry to Santorini via several other islands and got in around 7.00 pm. We got picked up from the port and it didn’t look the same as I remembered 30yeara ago but my memory is not so good and we got to our hotel and boy was there a lot of steps down - Tim had to carry the bag 23kgs on his shoulder while the other guy carried mine but the room and view were so worth the effort. Went and had a bite to eat and checked out the town.
